Pull up a blanket under the stars at Moonlight Movies

When I think about watching movies in the park I totally picture Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski, Brenda and Dylan, Cory and Topanga, Dawson and Joey, Uncle Jesse and Rebecca…all gazing into each other’s eyes while watching a rom-com under the stars. For those of you that are either too young or too old to know who these people are… I’m talking about some of the most memorable TV couples of the late 80s/early 90s.

If you would like to relive some of your favourite cheesy couple moments of your youth, then Moonlight Movies is the perfect date night for you and your beau! If you’re not ‘bound for the cottage’ this May 2-4 weekend (if you are heading north I am totally jealous…but good luck with the black flies) then you should really consider checking out Trolls on Sunday, May 20 at Riverwalk Commons. I know what you are thinking – it seems like a bit of a ‘kid movie’ but that is the great thing about it – it’s like Shrek, it really does appeal to everyone. It has a cute storyline, lots of laugh out loud moments and whether you are a JT fan or not, you have to admit he has some catchy tunes. The title song for this flick can’t help but make you smile. When we put this on at my house, it always leads to a spontaneous dance party.

If you have never participated in the Moonlight Movies experience - imagine the drive in – but more convenient. You can bring your own blankets, lawn chairs and snacks (Miss Vickies Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar chips and Maltesers, anyone?). While this sets the stage for a perfect date night, it is also a super fun thing to do with a group of friends or bring the whole fam. Newmarket has a series of movies happening all summer long.  They tend to be family friendly making for a chill night you can bring anyone to. There will be six movie nights in August.  Titles are always revealed closer to the date. This year the focus in on newer releases that are fun for everyone - so if you missed something in theatres recently, perhaps you can still see in on the big screen!

If you weren’t sold yet – did I mention the free popcorn!?!
